About Mary Auer

Affectionately known as "The Neighborhood Radical" in her Affton neighborhood, Mary Auer is the Green Party nominee for State Senate, 3rd District. She is a retired counselor, who formerly worked with the Disability Determinations Unit of the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Mary also served as academic advisor for the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Missouri - St. Louis (UMSL).

After raising a family, working in sales for Biederman Furniture Company and managing a Montgomery Ward Catalog Store, Mary went to college and earned her bachelors degree with honors from UMSL at the age of 51. She got a masters degree in counseling and guidance three years later.

Mary is also a long-time progressive activist. She is an active member of ACORN, Alliance for Democracy, Human Rights Action Network, Missourians Against Handgun Violence and other progressive action organizations. She personally collected nearly 500 signatures to get Ralph Nader and the Green Party on the Missouri ballot. Mary Auer puts principle first and often protests publicly against injustice.

Mary is happily married to Harry Auer. They have been blessed with five children, nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
